How do You Solve a Problem Like the Donald?

Today it’s called the Blob. Eight years ago it was the Swamp. Before that it went by many names: The Deepstate, Oligarchy, Military Industrial Complex, Captains of Industry (cough,) War Lords, the One Percent, the 0.001%, though that one doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. Robber Barons, actual Barons, or just plain Robbers.

People love trading new names for old. Call it the Genie of History. It makes us feel that we can escape the past while gleefully recreating it with a new, shinier lamp in its place. But a lamp by any other name, you know. Or so goes the aphorism.

President Trump’s first term in office was marked by incompetence, bluster, and a hamstrung investigation by the Mueller Special Counsel. That last bit of Potomac theatrics amounted to absolutely nothing after three years of bloviating and mocking by the jackals and hyenas of late night TV back alleys. People with names like Colbert, Kimmel, and Maddow.

The self-righteous façade of the genteel classes was fracturing at their lack of control over the unwashed masses. How dare they think for themselves? Don’t they know that they are subhuman? Deplorable? Best to let the intelligentsia think for you. The Blob knows best. Now go get a six pack of PBR and watch a 1950's B-movie. There’s a good redneck.

Instead of taking the 2016 defeat as a gentle nudge toward self-examination and asking how we let down our fellow Americans and how, maybe, we could learn from that experience, the belligerent Left in American society took this as a challenge to multiply our bigotry against those ‘Deplorables’ on the right.

If there ever was a plot for a Victor Hugo novel, this is it. Or maybe a collaboration? Hugo and Dostoyevsky. They could call it, ‘Les Peasants, les Rebels, et les Aristocracy… and Punishment.’

Now we have the Once and Future President. In 2016 he ran on a platform to drain the swamp. Instead, he slipped on the slime slathered shores of that fetid swamp and plunged head first into it. He had not realized that there are creatures in that swamp, creatures that know no restraints or morals and that are vicious when any light shines on them.

The Swamp Things struck back with a vengeance in the 2020 election where we got two pathetic insults to the offices of president and vice president of this once great country. Again, we learned nothing. Where was the special counsel investigating the 2020 election? Oh, yes… January 6… Right.

I don’t know what they were thinking. That the masses would go back to being useful idiots? Scared bunnies who think a bunch of aging baby boomers and millennials trespassing in the Capital rotunda and taking selfies with the statues was an ‘insurrection?’ Seriously? But hundreds of people were held as political prisoners by the Blob, without charge or access to legal counsel, for ‘insurrection.’

Sorry. An insurrection is where snipers are on the rooftop firing at random demonstrators and national guardsmen while paramilitary goons rush the buildings heavily armed. That's what happened in Kiev in 2014. That's an insurrection.

There was violence on January 6, it’s true. Ashley Babbit was shot dead in the back of the neck, killed by a capital guard. He was immediately arrested and tried for murder, or course.

Of course he wasn’t. As there were also no guards around the government buildings, even though Trump had requested many be stationed there. It’s almost as if the swamp things wanted an incident that they could seize upon. And if they didn’t get one, they would make one.

But that would be a right wing conspiracy theory.

Though, ‘January 6: The Insurrection’ is not a left wing conspiracy theory? Go figure.

And now he’s back, the Second Coming of Donald: This time it’s personal.

Trump has gone after the jugular of the Deep State, the cholesterol choked, purple vein exposed on the throat of a declining empire.

He cut off their allowance.

Having survived two assassinations attempts (it seems the Blob forgot how to do assassinations-have they forgotten September 22, 1963?) Trump has ascended to almost mythical status: The Apotheosis of Donald. The resurrection even. Righteousness and Justice in a cloud of glory.

Careful. Godmen never end well.

In what is a questionably legal affront to the money-honey of the Blob, USAID, Trump has begun his bloodless purge. Of course, the best corruption is always ‘nice and legal.’ Everything is according to that stanchion of Democracy: An Act of Congress.

‘Grants’ are proffered to institutions with names like, ‘Institute for Democracy and Kittens,’ which in turn donate copious amounts of money to Swamp Thing water carriers in Congress with names like Pelosi, McConnell, Sanders, and Ocasio-Cortez, to expose a few. That cash is squeaky clean, having gone through the best laundering machine Congress can buy.

Remember, money is ‘speech’ and ‘speech’ is free, right? According to the first amendment, that is. And corporations are ‘persons’ that have free ‘speech,’ which means they can slosh around as much ‘speech’ as they have budgets for and express their ‘speech’ into as many Congresspersons’ pockets as will ‘hear’ that ‘speech.’

You see, the speech is free but the congresspersons aren’t.

See how this works? The first amendment has another clause added to its list of rights. Along with the establishment of religion or exercise thereof, freedom of speech, the press, to peaceably assemble, and the right to petition the government for a redress of grievances, we can now add a sixth right: The right to bribery. It’s the law.

Absurd projects with DEI overtones are pushed onto unsuspecting nations around the world. Along with coup d'etats, propaganda, wars, child trafficking, drug smuggling, and money laundering, all on the USAID’s giga-dime. The Darien Gap funneling 'refugees' from Colombia to Panama and on the our southern border gets more maintenance than the average US interstate highway.

Chief terrorist and regime change waitress Victoria Newland bragged about spending five billion dollars overthrowing the government of Ukraine in 2014 and installing a new government scraped from the dregs of Ukrainian society, the descendants of people who welcomed the Wehrmacht into Ukraine 80 years earlier with bread and flowers led by a war criminal named Stepan Bandera. Nice people.

I always wondered how Coup de’ Newland got her bloody hands on that much cash? Does the State Department budget have a line item labeled, ‘Supporting Neo-Nazi Uprisings?’

No. They just take a dip in the 50 billion dollar a year USAID trough.

But that’s the thing, isn’t it? Donald Trump, with all his DOGE and ‘Drain the Trough’ rhetoric is not actually eliminating USAID, is he? He is just transferring jurisdiction from Neocon Samantha Powers to Trumpocon Marco Rubio, not exactly someone adverse to Swampthink now, is he?

And with all the anecdotal corruption done by USAID, all the trans operas and money funneling into the maw of Congress, cartels, and carpetbaggers, there is scant, nay, there is no, mention of USAID’s real finesse: Regime change, propaganda, and meddling in the politics of other countries. Why is that? Why the misdirection?

I can only assume that Trump will use this particularly refined talent of USAID for sabotaging other people’s lives in other people’s lands. Consider his plans for Mar-a-Gaza for starters. Who do you think is going to pay for that?

Will trump tame the three headed dog, whose heads are Money-Laundering, Regime Change, and Propaganda? Or will he release its fury against Mexico, Canada, and Denmark instead? Every Tsar needs his secret police.

Elon Musk would have gone bankrupt were it not for billions in US government contracts. That’s gotta count for something. And now he is looking into government efficiency? Commissioner Fox, meet the hen house.

It would be a shame to let a good, corrupt organization go to waste. Washington excels at recycling corruption. And as usual, we foot the bill.

Meet the new Blob. Same as the old Blob.

On the other hand..., with the Senate confirmations of controversial cabinet candidates Marco Rubio, Pete Hegseth, Pam Bondi, RFK Jr., Tulsi Gabbard (I would have enthusiastically voted for Tulsi for president in 2016, she being the first presidential candidate I actually wanted to vote for in a long time,) and Kash Patel (pending,) this time things might be different.

We can only hope.

Afterthought

Some might ask me, “Jon. What is your answer to all this? You don’t seem to like anybody!”

True. The whole system is corrupt beyond repair. It has been for most of my life. I sometimes wonder if it can be reformed. We seem to be at that stage in the life of an empire of self destruction.

But the answer is always the same and it has been forever. We can only trust ourselves. Each other. The average people, men and women, families and communities. Churches, mosques, synagogues. Theater groups and church socials wherever two or more are gathered together.

These are the building blocks of society, or a kingdom, or an empire, none other. As long as we are divided we are ruled. The autocrats, bureaucrats, and swamp things of every age fear this one thing only: That the people will unite. This is why the number one priority of every dictatorship is to divide and rule. To keep us hating each other. The last thing they want is for us to realize that we’re not that different, after all. So they keep us at odds with each other.

Don’t let them.
