Why?
Why is everything?
Why is anything?
For that matter, why isn’t nothing? Why doesn’t nothing exist? Is nothing a non sequitur?
Nothing seems much more likely than everything. Much more likely than what we have.
Why isn’t it so?
Why?
Why existence?
“I think therefore I am,” or so the philosopher said.
Why?
Am I really the only thing in the universe? Am I a solipsist nightmare? Are you? If you say, “No,” then how do you justify that? Where is your proof?
Why am I here?
Why are you here?
We call it God. Science calls it the Quantum Field. Vibrations in some bizarre, omni-present something that permeates all of space-time in this universe or in everything that exists outside of our space and time. Same difference. Albert Einstein called it Spinoza’s God. By this he meant the laws of nature. First principals. Just that. God is a rule book in Albert’s mind. A table of high school science. To be memorized and that’s all.
Mathematics and physics. Sunday morning it’s catechism before church and worship. Monday through Friday it’s veneration of science. That was the God I worshiped growing up. We worshiped. Everybody worshiped.
That was reality.
And science, through the quantum field, said, “Let there be light. And there was light.” And God said, “Let there be light. And there was light,” One of them created the universe. And so we are. Created. And so is the big bang. And so are you and me. Or so says our god, our science. Our religion. We are the children of the enlightenment, the quantum field. Or God. And we have to deal with that.
God or science. Chose one. Or both. They don’t really contradict each other you know. They both require faith. In Mathematics it’s called postulates, in science it’s called first principals. In religions it’s just called faith. They both require acceptance without question. What do you have faith in? God? Science? Pick one. Or both. They are both real things. And we are free to believe what we want.
And billions of years pass. And we are here. Humans. People. Homo-sapiens scraping out a living on our planet earth. Our planet. Quarreling with each other. Fighting over color and race and religion. And politics. Fighting over whose view of the world is best. Stuffing our ideology down each other’s throats. And brandishing the truth. Mine is right. Yours is wrong. That is tradition among people everywhere. That is certain on both sides. But it’s all mute. All vanity. Vanity of vanities. All is vanity.
We are here. Today. Now. Deal with the day’s troubles. Accept the day’s triumphs. Revel in the day’s simple pleasures. Morn your losses. Grieve your sorrows. Seize the day.
It’s now. That’s the only eternity we will ever have. A thing that exists and from which all things draw there existence. It is eternity. Timeless. Spaceless. Forever. When you leave this world you enter another. Endlessly. Eternally. That’s heaven. That’s hell. That’s all, folks.
And we are here. Today. Now. Deal with the day’s troubles. Accept the day’s triumphs. Revel in the day’s simple pleasures. Or their complex ones. Be good, it’s now. That’s the only eternity we will ever have.
Why is nothing else certain? Reality ends where conscientiousness begins. It ends at the border of perception.
It is all the same coin. Spend it wisely.
Why are my thought’s the only thing that are real?
I can’t look at a cat or a dog and not believe that someone is looking back at me. Maybe that is what God is?
“What is reality?’ so the 1960’s philosophically minded said. And he was ridiculed for it. Rightly so. He didn’t understand. Your reality is yours. My reality is mine. Beyond that? Who knows what lies there.
There be dragons.
Never mind stars and planets. Galaxies and the whole universe. Why am I here? Why are you here? For that matter, why is the universe here? Why is anything here?
They say that before anything existed, before time existed, before space existed, there was the One. The quantum One. The thing that existed before, after, and coexistent with everything else.
It just was. Is. Eternally. A nd it likes to create worlds. And populate them with pieces of itself. We are not not star stuff. We are God stuff. We are pieces of God plying games with ourselves.
We call it God. Science calls it the Quantum Field. Same difference. And they said, “Let there be light And there was light.” And so is the universe. And so are we. And so are you and me. Or so says our god, science. And our god, God.
And billions of years pass. And we are here. Humans. People. Homo-sapiens scraping out a living on planet earth. Quarreling with each other. Fighting over color and race and religion. But it’s all mute. All vanity. Vanity of vanities.
We are here. Today. Now. Deal with the day’s troubles. Accept the day’s triumphs. Revel in the day’s simple pleasures. We’re alive.
It’s now. That’s the only eternity we will ever have.
